There are many things I'd like to blog about; how I want to move to China, how I had gelato on a freezing Seattle night, how I ordered risotto and got the same Nico Nico Calrose rice that I've eaten every day of my life. I could even blog about Battlestar Galactica. Or how I've signed up for language exchanges via Skype.

I want to blog about all those things, but I'm in grading hell. Gotta get to work. I wonder if there will be grading hell when I quit my job, sell my condo, and move to China to teach spoken English. Or something like that.

A click from Twisty's reminded me that today was Cephalopodmas. God bless, every one!

Ah, the one day a year when we celebrate our friends the cephalopods. While I was on the Cephalopodmas site, I came across Johnothan Coulton, who posts his songs online.

I really enjoyed the Cephalopodmas anthem I Crush Everything, I also got acquainted with his some other titles, among them Skymall, Tom Cruise Crazy, and the classic Town Crotch.

Do NOT miss his sunny, non-threatening sweatervest wearin' white-guy versions of Baby Got Back and Bills Bills Bills (is that a banjo?).

Also, I'm sure these kids in the video below are nice kids, but I really find this kind ecstasy over an gift to be pretty frightening. We confuse surprise and excitedness with happiness. That doesn't look like happiness to me; it looks like anxiety (think: the Dog Whisperer). Materialism is not normal, nor is it natural; it's socialized, and reinforced throuought childhood.


You want your kids to be happy? Go ahead and buy them an N64, and play it with them. Also, encourage them to study their Spanish; help them when they need help, and praise them when they do well.

Save the Sound! With Costumes!

(last night went bowling at the Sunset. Karaoke there seemed lame, so we went to the Kona Kitchen. It was ok, but it was Tuesday-night karaoke on a Friday night. Next time it's definitely Mandarin Gate or Bush Gardens)

Save the Sound! The People for Puget Sound have been putting out these commercials, and they are awesome. AWESOME.
