It's about time!

So today, the county council of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. County finally passed a measure approving the official logo change, from the stupid 3 pointed crown in a circle to an image of Dr. King. It's been 20 years since this county was renamed in his honor, and ever since then, local sticks-in-the-mud have resisted changing the logo, citing the cost of ordering new stationary.

So let's review.

I live in King County, named after the greatest American and prophet of non violence.

I live in the City of Seattle, named for Chief Seattle (various spellings represent the difficulty of representing his name in our alphabet). Chief of the Suquamish, orator and peacemaker. His words regarding his people and the land this city is built on remain hauntly beautiful.

I live in the State of Washington, hero of independence and statesman; when a congressional committee voted to give him the title of "Your Highness" he insisted on "Mr. President," refusing to be king.

I live in a neighborhood called Columbia City, named after Christopher....

Hmm, did I mention that I lived in Dr. King County?
