Woke up at 8:30, got dressed, had breakfast (buttered toast, tea earl gray hot, chocolate cereal, apple yogurt). Made some phone calls. Everything seems to be fine with students. J had some problems locking the door; then when she went in to call about it, she set off the alarm. After a few times around the traffic circles she showed up and we were off and running. We cleaned the windshield with Vittel and I payed for gas. We drove out to Vaison-la-Romaine, which is quiet and picturesque and lovely and not obnoxious. We went to a Rick Steve's restaurant and the owner recognized the guide. Said that Rick's brother Steve had just been by three days ago. Steve Steves?
The restaurant was called the tournesol, the sunflower, and it was very nice. I ordered the menu du jour for 12, which included a salad of zucchini strings tossed in a curry dressing over some nice lettuce; skewered steak, rattatouille, potatoes au gratin, a 1/4 litre of ros and a slice of apple tart. So 12 is not cheap but it's a really good value. J ordered the fishy menu, which was 21 and totally worth it. So France isn't cheap, but it's still a good value.
The owner told us today at lunch that London was getting 2012.
I'm guessing that we're having croque monseiur for dinner tonight, because all the necessary ingredients are out on the counter top. I wonder what the plural of croque monseiur is. Croques messeiurs?
Student A's mom called, was very thankful that student A's situation has changed.
