I'm up early this morning. It's 5:30 now, and I'm not necessarily going back to bed. Friday was the last day; now we're on break. The day ended with an offensive assembly, in which Santa gave out inside jokes which were mean, mean, and mean. There should be resignations and firings, but I won't hold my breath. Apparently there was a storm of email afterward; I admit I did send an email, but it was an offer to find some materials for them , to help them discuss with the students about what is appropriate and what is not. It's funny to me that out of dozens of emails, mine is the constructive one.

Let's talk about glass houses. Once I read this story this morning, I knew I wasn't going back to sleep. I think this is hillarious. The administrator at the US mission in Havana put up a display, featuring the number 75, which is the number of political prisoners detained by the Cuban govt. The Cubans asked them to take down the display, the Americans stuck their tongues out.

So then the Cubans blow up pictures of the Abu Graibe atrocity, along with a swastika, and stamped "Made In America." Folks, when you live in glass houses . . .

I'm surprised the Cubans didn't bring up the tyranny at Guantanamo! Maybe they're saving it, as the Americans seem to be ENGAGING this exchange! The American side comes back at the Cuban display with pouting, whining, and accusations of the Cubans being mean and hurting their feelings. "yah but . . . yah, but . . . wullllllll"

Physician, heal thyself.
