So Rev. Hutcherson of Antioch Bible Church of Redmond (which meets at Lake Washington High School!) took a dare from the Stranger to debate Ron Sims on the subject of gay marriage. (audio)
He hates the sin of homosexuality because the Bible does.
Is it just me, or is it cowardly to wrap your hatred in the Bible?
I don't know if Reverend Kenny is dining with tax collectors or prostitutes, if he harvests on the Sabbath, or if he overturns the money changer's tables. I don't know if he feeds the hungry, or clothes the naked, or visits the imprisoned.
I don't know, he might. I see from his website (I don't want to link) that he's comfortable thumping out Paul and Leviticus, and that if we are to take his arguements seriously, he's deathly afraid that homosexuals will become a 'protected class' of people... perhaps he is afraid that homosexuals will use their 'protected status' to subjugate the poor, oppressed heterosexuals. Oh, the humanity.
So never mind that the Good News of Christ was that salvation was for everyone everyone everyone. Let's put that aside for a second.
So Reverend Dr. Hutcherson opposes HB2661 because he fears the homo elite, and also because he believes it promotes homosexuality, which is a sin that he hates. Fine, he believes what he believes, we should respect that.
Hey Ken, I don't believe that shit, and legally you can't make me or any of us conform. And maybe you don't have the capacity to separate your religious beliefs from your policy making, but luckily you are not a policy maker. The policy makers have an obligation to the constitutions of the state and to the nation to not legislate their religious beliefs.
So go on and do what you got to do. It makes me think that you're a bigot, but you gotta do what you gotta do. I don't understand what we have to fear when it comes to homosexuals not being discriminated against, or even getting married to each other, but maybe I'm not supposed to understand. Maybe it's your job to alienate people from the Bible and Christianity. Maybe you're right, you're saving us all from our own free will. Maybe you'll bring glory to God by not banning discrimination against people who are *clearly* being discriminated against.
Listen, maybe check out Brokeback Mountain in Legos. Maybe we'll understand each other more if you express your ideology of hatred with children's toys.

He hates the sin, but loves the sinner - just as the bible calls for us to do.
Why should the church encourage the practice of a sin - a sin which was condemned in Romans.
Note that this applies to adulterers, masturbaters, etc. I hold these as sins that should be condemn - while praying that the sinner confesses and repents of them.
Excerpt from Romans:
24Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

Go ahead and hate the sin, if that's what you think Paul is telling you to do. Paul's zeal does not trump Jesus' love and compassion.
Is Paul telling you to keep discrimination legal in America?
Shall we also legalize discrimination against adulterers and masturbaters? Shall we stone the adulterous woman?
Shall we prevent adulterers and masterbators from marrying or visiting their sick partners in the hospital?
So Paul says that sinners are worthy of death, fine. Don't worry, they will die.
And guess what, so will you. And when you die, you can meet the Creator and be smug in your choice keep discrimination legal. Good luck with that.
