Post Script: the rain record

So Seattle didn't break its 33 day rain record; it stopped around 26. Olympia hit the record books, though. Congratulations.

So during the rainfall, there were mudslides that took out train tracks. During these weeks, Seattle was without:

a) Sounder service (mudslide washout)
b) Amtrack service (mudslide washout)
c) Waterfront Streetcar (closed for rerouting)
d) Seattle Monorail (closed for repair)
e) SPMA Monorail (abandoned by the voters)
f) SLU Street Car (still in the planning stages)
g) Sound Transit LINK light rail (under construction)
h) Metro bus tunnel (closed for renovation)

Seriously, people, all of the above. If we can't get some transit and density in this town, we might as well rename it "North Tacoma."

Maybe not such a bad idea. The last time I was in North Tacoma, I was very much amazed to find they also have a "Queen Anne Thriftway" there.

When I come to Seattle these days, I'm lucky eough to have a friend who drives me around. Amazing experience, even for someone who just moved away ten years ago.
