You are kidding me.

The news reported that the king of Domino's Pizza (from Ann Arbor, Michigan) is planning a human scale, walkable town near Naples, Florida called Ave Maria; a town for Catholics to compliment and support his new Ave Maria University.

I'm too lazy to unpack this or to put up a bunch of links. I am intrigued by the thought of a planned, walkable town, and the possibility that I might be able to get a good job. I would worry about the right wing catholicism.

Out of curiosity, I went to the town and the university's web sites (you can google them yourself) to see how liberal the place was. So I looked for some liberal indicators. Is there an angry brown people club? Is there a PFLAG group for students? What about socialists, or at least some kind of labor presence? An undergound newspaper? Is there anything to suggest that it's more than a glorified parish youth group for conservative white kids who are afraid of the big city or didn't do so well in high school?

To be honest, I didn't look very hard, but one of the first things I found was the Chastity Team.

Suddenly questions flood my brain.

Does the Chastity Team compete against other universities? Do they wear a uniform? How does one become a team capitan? Are there manager positions, for kids who showed a lot of heart at the tryouts but didn't make the cut? What are the different positions in a Chastity Team? Is it co-ed? Are there cheers? Is there a tournament?

I don't know anything about it, but I would be shocked if it wasn't just social club for future spouses. A very frustrating social club . . . .
