Day 3 without carbs

I've decided to stop eating carbs AGAIN. Same reason as before. I'm totally addicted to carbs, and it makes me overeat. Worse that that, when I've got a carb jones, I become MEAN.

It will be nice to lose weight too, but mainly I have to detox.

So right now I just ate a cubed turkey and mozzarella salad, dressed in a dill vinagrette. I threw in pepper flakes and some almond slivers.

I was always healthiest when someone was cooking for me; my mama, my french host mother, my italian host mother, my guatemalan host mother. I actually lost weight just eating abroad, because I ate on a regular schedule every day. My body never paniced; I never got the carb jones rage. I ate less.

I ate so much less, that my friends could count on it. When I was studying in Rome, six of us drove to the Cannes Film Festival. Everybody bought two baguettes for lunch except for me and C. K asked C, aren't you going to be hungry with just one baguette? And C said, no, I'll just have half of Gian Patrizio's. Ten minutes later, I was giving C half of a baguette because I couldn't finish.

Can you imagine me not finishing?

Anyway, today was the first day back from spring break. I had to rush in this morning at 7:30 to do morning prayer--I had to talk about the resurrection, the Pope, Terry Schiavo, and the Solemnity of the Annunciation. I had worked on it for two hours, and had whittled it down to 3 minutes 30 seconds; a whole 60 seconds over my standard. Then helped improvise a Pope memorial in the hallway. I had to go out to get something to eat. I came back and taught two classes, and then B told me that we'd have a memorial mass for the Pope as I'm walking to rehearsal. Are you kidding? So I sat there with my piano player and my singer and we went through the whole catalogue trying to figure out what to play for the mass. For goodness sakes.

After that, I came home to work on filing and tax documents. At around 3, I got an email saying that the memorial mass is cancelled, the whole day of school is cancelled, by order of the Archbishop.

Thank goodness. But we should have had today off. Seriously.

OMG, I totally just blogged about work.
